The new Portway team are working well and we have already seen a doubling of attendance at our 2nd Sunday meetings at The George, now organised by Sue Pocock. Well done Sue. Our new treasurer and Portway shop custodian Barbara Smith has made a keen start resulting in a useful contribution to Group funds from sales. Barbara is now considering launching our own range of Portway clothing. January Club Night featured our annual film show where members can review the previous year’s events as seen through the eyes (cameras) of Chris Surtell and myself. The one and a half hour epic seemed to go down well and was the result of many hours of sifting through and editing video. There should be even more to edit next year with the many 90th Anniversary events to cover. There will be a professional video made of the Brighton Run so maybe I will give my camera a rest that weekend. I must get back to the workshop now as the Chummy is still not ready for Brighton. I have finally made the replacement steering wheel from a new aluminium casting and hopefully this one will not fall apart as the original one did. It can be rather disconcerting when you realise the front wheels are not pointing in the same direction as the steering wheel!!!! Father Christmas left me a nice vintage stop sign to go on the back so must sort out a brake light switch before mounting it. All I need then is some indicators and I can drive without sticking my arm out in the rain. Gordon Puzey. | |
