Special pre-event gathering of members in the Metropole hotel,see newsletter.N.E.C. BIRMINGHAM November 9th and 10th 2002 (not in 2003 as diffferent organisors) - we will have a stand in Hall 5 near the centre,the stand is The Pedal Car Collectors'Club display of member's pedal cars including the late Princess Diana's Bentley Continental Covertible S111 produced for her to give as a present to the young Prince William,made by Tri-ang Sharna Ware PLC in the 1980's. It is of the then defunct Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud 111 which was produced in the mid to late 1960's,the mould still exsisted and they made a one-off with Bentley radiator,grill and badges and it was of 12 volt electric power. Also on display a handbuilt Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix racer and a Panhard et Levassor of the 1920's. We hope to have examples of the Austin J40 and Pathfinder as well as Jagaur XK120,MG TD fibreglass models. An exibition not to be missed! AUSTIN TOY FACTORY,BARGOED,SOUTH WALES in the 1950's to early 1970s(in fact from 1948 starting with the prototypes of the J40 and then(for one year only in 1949 the Pathfinder racer). We have just aquired a rare portfolio containing quantities of material from this period of the factory including opening speech from the Mayor,lunch menue listings,photos of workers assembling the Joycars,reciptes for parts,listings of parts,letters to and from customers,factory letters,invoices and much more! As yet un-published material! All contained in protective plastic sleaves,two portfolios one with mainly photocopy maerial,newspaper cuttings of the period,brochures etc.Offers on Ł1,000 for this rare and unique collection! The offer we had at Beaulieu from the Japanese gentleman(consortiem)is kindly declined as we wish to ensure this archive stays in the UK. Up-date for 2002 We have great pleaseure in informing interested parties that we have now sold the above archive to The National Museum and Art Galleries of Wales where it will be on perminant public display at The Dept.of Industry The Collections Centre Parc Nantgarw Bargoed,Wales.Please note that it is advisable to call/contact them before you visit, as the archive will only be shown on request.....................................................
