It is now 2010 and the Trust is about to set up this years events. Sorry for the delay in posting dates and information about this years shows we had a problem with the local council on the use of the Green.
If all goes well we have again joined forces with the Watford Observer to stage a two day event on the 8th and 9th of May called Classics on the Green with the Hertfordshire Motor Show. This is to be part of Rickmansworth week and will be one of the major events of the week. As last year we will have a new vehicle compound with up to ten local motor dealers
showing the new models from a wide range of manufacturers. Last year saw just over 100 Classic Cars on the Saturday and around 500 on the Sunday along with a great family atmosphere with childrens fair ground, trade stalls and catering we are looking into having live music on the Saturay this year just to improve the atmosphere. Like all our events entry is by donation to our chosen charties on a just turn up and park up bases and is open to any interesting vehciles like Classic Cars, Custom cars, Race Cars, kit Cars and commercial vehicles so you can have a fun day.
The next planed event we are holding is in conjuction with the Courtlands Residents Assocation family fun day on Saturday the 5th of June to be held at Goodwood Recreation Ground, Goodwood Avenue, North Watford Herts from 12-4 pm. This event will be free, but must be pre entry as we only have space for 70 vehicles please phone or email for an application form. Again this event will have live music and many family attractions to have a fun afternoon.
On Wednesday 4th of August 2010 will see the 9th Classics on the Green one of the largest mid week car shows in the country. The event is open to any interesting vehicle from Classic Cars, Custom Cars,Race Cars, Kit Cars, super Cars and commercial vehicles. This event has an attendance of over 1600 vehicles each year. Again this is a turn up and park up event with a donation to our chosen charities. Gates open at 12 noon and the show winds up just before 10pm. We recomend that you arrive mid afternoon to miss the rush as this is a very popular event, and you will see vehicles that do not visit other shows. All the major magazines have done articles on this event and ITV4 has filmed there for the used car roadshow. We look forward to seeing you this year.
September the 18th and 19th will see the 7th Classics on the Green with Carters Steam Fair this is again a two day event with the Scammell owners Club on the Saturday and the Scammell Road run from 2pm to the old factory site in Tolpits Lane Watford. The Sunday will be the Classic car show day again open to any interesting vehicle and entry by Donation to our chosen charities. We only have space for 800 vehicles on the main show area, and it is site full by midday. The overflow parking area can hold up to 400 cars if required and is only 200 yds from the main show.
We had over 800 vehicles at this years show and was full house by miday again which just goes to show that we have a winning event for all car lovers. All Classics on the Green events draw in large crowds even more when we team up with Carters Steam Fair now one of the most popular events in Croxley Green. I started the event six years ago when I had a meeting with Anna Carter and we decided that a Classic Fair and a Classic Car show would work well together, and bring in the public. As we both have charity in mind we found that this formula works very well and can raise large amounts for charity and still be a great weekend for everyone. The show is very hard work for Peter and I and it starts for us on the Friday and ends on the Monday, but it is worth it as we can bring a smile to thousands of people over the weekend and know we will raise a large sum for our charities.
We will now start plans for the 2010 events which will be better than ever with live music a new car motor show and many others new ideas. We aim to bring all types of petrol heads together at one event to show that people with like intrests get on very well together and can pass information around. If you would like to show a intresting vehicle at any Classics on the Green Events you can just turn up pay a donation and have fun. We will post the 2010 dates as soon as we can plus any other shows that we will be involved in.
Dates confirmed so far are Courtlands Residents Association Fun Day Saturday 5th of June which will be pre entry due to space for around 70 cars you can email us if you require a space there will be no charge first come first served as they say. This years show was a great success with fun fair, stalls and live groups.
